Aquidneck Community Table

Aquidneck Community Table runs farmers markets in Newport and Middletown, three community gardens, a compost program, and inspires people to build a more healthy and equitable food system on Aquidneck Island through community conversations and events.

Arts & Cultural Alliance of Newport County

As a member-supported organization, the Alliance offers seminars, workshops and networking opportunities for artist members.

Bike Newport

Bike Newport’s mission is to create the conditions that lead to more people biking more often, and to ensure that bicycling is a viable, safe and comfortable primary choice for transportation and recreation. Whether you’re new to cycling, want to ride your bike to work/school or for recreation, Bike Newport aims to inspire people of all ages and backgrounds to experience the joys of cycling not only in Newport but wherever you go.


FabNewport is 501(c)3 non-profit whose mission is to inspire the maker in all of us. Our vision is all students will have the skills, confidence and commitment to positively impact their communities and make their lives. We started in 2013 as a maker space/ fab lab in Newport and now serve both the Providence and Newport areas with an emphasis on urban middle and high school-aged youth. Our spaces in schools, libraries and community centers emphasize collaboration, distributed teaching and learning, and choice.

Newport Art Museum

The Newport Art Museum was founded in 1912 on the belief that arts and culture have the power to bring diverse groups of individuals together, which ultimately promotes civic engagement and strengthens the social fabric of our communities. Our gallery spaces feature artworks from our permanent collection, as well as rotating exhibitions that showcase contemporary artists from around the world.

Newport Historical Society

Since 1854, the Newport Historical Society has collected and preserved five centuries of history and continues to document Newport’s unique contribution to our national narrative.

Newport Middle Passage Ceremony and Port Marker Project

Residents of the Newport, Rhode Island area have established a grass-roots organization to create a memorial marker in Newport. This is a community movement to commemorate and honor those many thousands lost in the Middle Passage of the slave trade which was centered in Newport from the 17th to early 19th centuries.

Sankofa Community Connection

The mission of Sankofa Community Connection is to increase pride of place within the African American community of Newport County, through a community-led initiative with 3 main focus areas: 1. Community events and gatherings to increase our social cohesion 2. Community Meetings where we discuss the impact of institutional racism and racial oppression to promote dialogue and create solutions to the issues 3. Historical Education to reveal, honor and celebrate the cultural heritage of African Americans of early Newport.

1696 Heritage Group

1696 Heritage Group is a historical consulting firm dedicated helping persons and institutions of color to increase their knowledge and access to the light of truth of their unique American heritage. Our team has worked on a broad range of projects for public and private clients across the African Diaspora. Our home base is in Newport, Rhode island, one of the most historic cities in America.

Boys & Girls Club of Newport County

The mission of the Boys & Girls Club is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need help most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. The Boys & Girls Club provides a positive, safe and exciting environment for children to learn, grow and develop. We provide quality programs for children, teens, adults and families.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center

Dr. Martin Luther King. Jr. Community Center is a multi-service agency providing nutritional, educational, social and referral services to hundreds of individuals and families throughout Newport County. The privately funded, non-profit community center offers the area’s highest-volume food pantry and only daily meal site, plus a comprehensive roster of educational and enrichment programs.

East Bay Community Action Program

East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) is a private, nonprofit corporation that provides a wide array of health and human services to the residents of Rhode Island’s east bay.

Newport Health Equity Zone

The Newport Health Equity Zone is a city-wide coalition mobilizing residents and resources of the Broadway and North End neighborhoods to make Newport a place where everyone can thrive.

Newport Mental Health

Founded in 1964, Newport Mental Health provides trauma informed evidence-based services to children, adolescents, families, and adults who are experiencing problems with mental illness, substance abuse or stress in their lives that would benefit from counseling and other behavioral health services and supports.

Women’s Resource Center

Since 1977, Women’s Resource Center (WRC) has been a listening ear, a helping hand and in some cases, a lifeline to individuals experiencing domestic violence. The overarching goal of WRC is that through education and intervention, there will one day be a world without domestic violence.

Newport County YMCA

Each and every day the Newport County YMCA builds strong kids, strong families, and strong communities by offering programs such as daycare, after school programming, summer camps, family events, programs for youth, teens and seniors, wellness, gymnastics and aquatics classes.
